Chapter 1

Started by making systems feel alive

Ryan Spice began with StarCraft 1 modding, GameMaker experiments, C++, JavaScript, and PHP. The thread was always the same: learn how the system works, then make it more useful, expressive, and maintainable.

02

Chapter 2

From first jobs to product engineering

Early institutional exposure, including BMO, made the cost of poor tooling clear. Startup work then brought React, npm, Node, and production PHP into daily practice, turning curiosity into professional delivery.

03

Chapter 3

Enterprise, cloud, and modern frontends

The path continued through LAMP stacks, Drupal, OAuth, AWS, AEM, React, Angular, Vue, and large-organization delivery with AutoTrader, Indegene, Manulife, and Ontario Cannabis Store context.

04

Chapter 4

Ontario base, wider network

After years in Toronto, Ryan returned to the Kincardine countryside while keeping Toronto connections and a global curiosity. Canopy Digital reflects that mix: rural practicality, enterprise experience, and hands-on engineering breadth.
